re: Rantings of the Guild Stalker, Week 202 & 203

Welcome to the 202nd and 203rd edition of the Rantings of the Guild Stalker, your one stop spot to get all the juiciest tidbits. But if you hear it here, you probably didn't hear it first-unless you did-in which case I call Shaman Iguana!

Welcome to this week's newsletter! As most of you are aware this week's newsletter brings with it a lot of change, which is where I want to start. I know many of you were shocked, surprised, hurt and sad to see the departure of so many friendly faces this past week. We have always strived to be as transparent as possible and the recent events are no exception. I will attempt to go over recent events, but if you still have questions (or concerns) please feel free to talk to any of the officers.

The short version of events is this: Some of our former guild mates have honestly be struggling for some time (some for over a year) with our raids. They wanted to be able to progress further more quickly. Over a year ago the officers had a discussion about how to address these concerns. We did make some changes, like increasing item level requirements, adding the gear checks, and the implementation of our new raider program. But, we were unable to make some changes that were proposed like requiring attendance, or further restricting who could attend raids because it fundamentally goes against our core philosophy as a guild and as a raid team.

These issues were once again brought to our attention over the past weekend, in addition to some other concerns. And after talking it through it became clear that despite how much we all enjoy playing together we fundamentally wanted different things from the game at this point in time and at the core have different philosophical ideas about how to get there.

Because of these differences several individuals have made the personal decision to leave us at this time. Some people have left completely, and others took one toon and left others here with us. Whatever the situation there is no animosity from us towards any of them for leaving. As their friends we want them to enjoy playing this game (since that is what games are for) and we wish them the best in their new guild.

Lastly, as a reminder, there is no reason to not be pleasant to these individuals, or to not talk to them, or run dungeons etc. with them. We are, afterall, friends.

Now, as I have been answering questions in the last few days about this situation I have come to realize that actually very few people know about why this guild was founded, so I wrote up a short explanation and posted it here. Feel free to read up on it and learn more about why we have the philosophies we do.

OKAY, now on to the fun stuff! Guess what else changes this week?? We get a whole new raid woot woot! That's right Trail of Valor comes out this week. *dances about with excitement* Oh, AND, it is the Darkmoon Faire...complete with changes and updates. You can read all about those over here. Now, let's see what else we can find in the guild this week.

Guildie of the Week

Not only is she good for a laugh (trust me she is funny), but she was nominated twice in the past two weeks. She helped a guildie find the mysteriously missing Candy Bucket in Blasted Lands and she helped out in a fun PePe achievement run.

To submit a nomination, send an in-game or website mail to Rhodaria. Be sure to specify who the guildie is you are nominating and why you are nominating them. To view the gallery of past winners go to our Guildie of the Week Page.

Guess your Guildmate

So sad that no one figured out that it was Noinar that this sage advice, "Next time, try the aggressive cuddle command." Do you know who pounded their chest and said:

To submit a guess for GYG you can comment on this newsletter on the website or on facebook or send Rhodaria an in-game mail. To view previous weeks' challenges view the forum post.

Guild Checkmark Challenge

Swiftdevil won 1600 gold

The GCG is one of our main sources of funds for the guild, which is made possible by all of you running guild dungeons and raids. you get one entry for every checkmark you complete, just be sure to send Rhodaria a mail to submit your entry. Learn more here

Guild Bank

Still looking for materials for gems, enchants and flask/potions. In particular we could use starlight rose. Many many starlight rose. If you have anything extra to donate it would be much appreciated.

*Since I will attempt to do another newsletter in a few days I will keep this newsletter short and stop here*
